What 'Shramadaan' means

Shramadaan is more than an organisation — it is a posture toward civic life. It is the conviction that small, consistent acts of physical service can repair what bureaucracy forgets and what indifference accepts.

The movement was born in Hyderabad in 2010 when Sri. Gangadhara Tilak Katnam, a retired Indian Railways engineer, picked up a spade and began filling the potholes outside his home. Today, that single act has grown into an inspiration for citizens across India.
